Celebrity chef Raymond Blanc has loyally supported Action Against Hunger for many years. As our ambassador he has worked tirelessly at many of our events to raise awareness about the work we undertake and funds to prevent children dying from child hunger. In 2012 Raymond Blanc presented Action Against Hunger with a cheque for a staggering £20,000 at a special ceremony at his restaurant. As Raymond said: ‘Just a little of your time and effort can make a positive difference to people’s lives!”

 

Ken Hom

Action Against Hunger supporter Ken Hom has supported the organisation for over a decade

One of the world’s most respected chefs, Ken Hom has been an ambassador for Action Against Hunger since 2005, when he hosted a high-profile Chinese New Year Dinner in aid of the survivors of the Asian Tsunami. Since then he has been keen advocate for raising awareness about the issue of child hunger. In 2013 he decided to leave a gift in his Will in support of Action Against Hunger. As Ken said: ‘I am committed to do my bit to help families build healthier futures for themselves because I believe that all children should be well-nourished so they can enjoy their childhood and reach their full potential.’

Food and drink writer Bill Knott is a passionate supporter and long-standing ambassador for Action Against Hunger. Bill has travelled overseas to countries including Bangladesh, Chad, Ethiopia and India to highlight our life-saving nutrition work. He also is a founding member of many of our fundraising initiatives – including Too Many Critics and our annual flagship event, The Fine Wine Auction & Dinner – and has helped us forge links with the UK restaurant community to raise not just money, but awareness of our work. We’re delighted that in 2015 Bill won  ‘International Aid Hero’ award at the Charity Staff and Volunteer Awards, run by the Charity Staff Foundation.

Chef Alfred Prasad of Michelin-starred Tamarind has cooked for us at a variety of high-profile events and most recently at our 5 Star Haute Dog stand at Taste of London Winter

Chef Alfred Prasad of Michelin-starred Tamarind has cooked for us at a variety of high-profile events and most recently at our 5 Star Haute Dog stand at Taste of London Winter. His restaurants are loyal supporters of our Love Food Give Food campaign. This picture was taken in October 2014 when Alfred took part in our India cycle challenge. As Alfred said: ‘“I am inspired by the far-reaching impact of Action Against Hunger’s work in remote and vulnerable communities across the world and am committed to help raise funds.”

Chef Anna Hansen has been a long-time supporter of Action Against Hunger – even cycling from London to Paris in 2012 to help raise vital funds.
Chef Anna Hansen has been a long-time supporter of Action Against Hunger – even cycling from London to Paris in 2012 to help raise vital funds. The Modern Pantry supports Love Food Give Food and Anna has cooked for Action Against Hunger at Taste of London, our Fine Wine Auction, Auction Against Hunger and Global Gastronomy. Anna said: ‘With so many children suffering from hunger, I am delighted to be involved and sincerely hope that we raise a great amount of money to help Action Against Hunger’s teams to save more lives.”

As Atul said: ‘For those of us fortunate enough to work with food every day, and never experience hunger, it’s so, so important to do what we can for those less fortunate.’

Chef Cyrus Todiwala of Café Spice Namasté has supported Action Against Hunger for over a decade providing his culinary expertise to shows like Taste of London, providing auction prizes and fundraising in his restaurants. As Cyrus said: “The world has changed dramatically in the last few years. More people now recognise that such basic values as empathy and extending help to those in need are the ones that truly count. We have supported Action Against Hunger for over a decade because we believe that it is a real force for good. Coming from India, my wife Pervin and I have seen first-hand the impact of ignorance, misfortune and social and economic disparity. Action Against Hunger are there to make a difference and we commend their work.”

 

Jose Pizarro

Most recently, chef Jose Pizarro embark on a unique cycle challenge across India in a bid to raise crucial funds towards our work and awareness about life-threatening malnutrition in the country.

Most recently, chef Jose Pizarro embark on a unique cycle challenge across India in a bid to raise crucial funds towards our work and awareness about life-threatening malnutrition in the country. Jose had a chance the witness firsthand how children and their families were affected by the condition when visiting communities in Baran district. He said: ‘After more than 25 years of not even sitting on a bike, here I am training and preparing to cycle over 400 km in 5 days! I’m delighted to be once again collaborating with Action Against Hunger, this time doing the Rajasthan Cycle Challenge. I believe this is a very important cause.”

 

Gordon Ramsay Foundation

Gordon and Tana Ramsay set up the Gordon Ramsay Foundation in 2014 to make a meaningful difference to charitable causes close to them. We are utterly delighted to be one of the benefitting charities. They have set the ambitious goal of raising £2 million over 2 years and the first initiative took place on the 14th of June 2015 – the GR100 Ironman 70.3 in Staffordshire. The GR100 was an exclusive team led by Gordon Ramsay who all took on the challenge of a lifetime at the Ironman event and at the same time fundraise for the Foundation. We’re incredibly excited to be a part of this foundation as the funds that will be donated to Action Against Hunger will make a big difference to children and their families around the world.

Chef Jun Tanaka has been an ambassador for Action Against Hunger since 2010 and has supported Action Against Hunger in every way possible, from providing auction prizes to cooking at Taste of London, to campaigning for an end to child hunger and acting as a spokesperson on our behalf.

 

Francesco Mazzei

Francesco Mazzei: "I am proud that my team and I now have the chance to take an active part in trying to raise money to fight malnutrition.”

Chef Francesco Mazzei has been an ambassador since 2010. His restaurant, L’Anima, fundraises as part of our annual flagship campaign Love Food Give Food every year. In 2014, Francesco cooked at our Auction Against Hunger event, helping to raise more than £100,000. He said: “It is hard to believe that there are still such high rates of poverty and starvation around the world. Coming from a very religious family, I have grown up praying and helping the poor within our means. I am proud that my team and I now have the chance to take an active part in trying to raise money to fight malnutrition.”

 

Mickael Weiss

Chef Mickael Weiss has been a loyal ambassador for Action Against Hunger for many years. He is incredibly generous and has continuously donated his time and various prizes which have all raised a considerable amount for the organisation. In 2010 he visited our programmes in Kenya. He said: “Having seen first-hand Action Against Hunger’s work in Kenya – the work they do is vital and being part of Love Food Give Food will make a difference in helping the charity continue to save lives.”

Chef Valentine Warner has cooked at various events such as Hawksmoor Dream Team 2011 to help raise crucial funds towards our live-saving programmes around the world.

He has also representated Action Against Hunger at the launch of the Enough Food For Everyone If campaign to end child hunger in London in 2013.

Chef Vivek Singh of the Cinnamon Club has shown incredible commitment towards Action Against Hunger, hosting a number of high-profile events, including our annual Diwali Banquet, and acting as a spokesperson to help raise awareness of the plight of malnourished children around the world: He said: “Having been a chef for 18 years and coming from India, I have witnessed a lot of both food and hunger. Action Against Hunger does a wonderful job of keeping us connected to the hard realities of the world and keeps reminding us of how the small steps we take can mean big things to thousands of the world’s most impoverished people.”

 

Mel Giedroyc

In 2014 kindly lent her support to Action Against Hunger's work and presented our BBC Radio 4 Charity Appeal. She said: ‘I’m very lucky to do a job where I get to eat lots of cakes and baked items, which makes me think when I do my job that there are so many people who don’t get anywhere near food, let alone delicious foods. That’s why I’m keen to support Action Against Hunger.”
